FAQ

It’s best to place your request for your repeat prescription with GP 5-10 days before you need your prescription to arrive. But do not worry, you can use our email reminder service to set helpful reminders a month before you need to order. This allows time for your GP or nurse to authorise the prescription(s), our team to dispense your prescribed items and Royal Mail to deliver it.

No, you don’t need to be in to receive your delivery. Most items that we send
should fit through a standard size letterbox, if your delivery will not fit
through your letterbox, Royal Mail will let you know how you can rearrange
delivery or collection.

Yes, our services are available in throughout the UK.

If your GP practice isn’t part of the NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) and only uses paper prescriptions, send your form to Daylong Direct using our FREEPOST address: FREEPOST RTHL-YUAG-GCST, Daylong, 10 Cossall Industrial Estate, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 5UD. You can get free envelopes from our customer service or just write the address on any envelope without adding stamps. Contact your GP to request your repeat prescription and mail it to Daylong Direct.

If you’re concerned about prescription costs, ask your GP or local pharmacy team if you qualify for free NHS prescriptions. In England, you are eligible if you are:

  • Under 16 or over 60
  • Aged 16-18 and in full-time education
  • Pregnant or have given birth in the past 12 months with a valid maternity exemption certificate
  • Holding a valid medical exemption certificate due to specific diseases or disabilities (access the full list of conditions here)
  • On a low income or receiving certain benefits
  • Receiving specific pensions

It’s your responsibility to check your eligibility. Wrongly claiming free prescriptions can result in a penalty charge of up to £100.

Patients on long-term medication or medical devices (e.g., hosiery) may get repeat prescriptions for a set period until the review date set by the prescriber.

Your first prescription has two parts:

  1. GREEN Slip: This is the actual prescription for your item (e.g., compression garment) that you send to your dispenser, such as Daylong.
  2. WHITE Slip: This is the repeat re-order form, listing items you can order again. Keep it for future use.

To reorder:

  • Tick only the items you need on the WHITE Slip within 5 days of running out.
  • Place the re-order form in the GP’s request box or mail it to the surgery.
  • If you lose the form, ask the GP or clinic reception for a new one, or write your request on a provided form.
  • Allow enough time to reorder to avoid running out.

For PURPLE Slips (written by prescribing nurses or specialists) that don’t have a WHITE Slip:

  • By phone: Call the GP reception to request a repeat prescription.
  • By mail: Send a written request with a stamped addressed envelope to your GP practice.
  • Online: Check if your GP practice offers online services.

When you register with Daylong Direct, we’lll ask you to fill the nomination form with your NHS England GP practice details.

Once your clinician writes the initial prescription for your compression garment and sends it to your GP for approval, it can take 3-5 working days for the GP to approve and forward it to us.

We will then dispense the garment and send it via Royal Mail Tracked 48®. Please allow 7-10 working days for your first order to arrive (ins tock only, the made-to-measure garments may take longer), and 3-5 working days for subsequent deliveries. A Royal Mail tracking link will be provided in your confirmation email once your prescription is dispatched.

Yes, if you regularly pick up NHS prescription medication, you might benefit from an NHS Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC).

A PPC is a card you pay for and show at the pharmacy to get your medication without additional charges. Two types are available:

  • 3-month certificate: £32.05
  • 12-month certificate: £114.50

You can pay for your PPC online, by phone, or by post. For a 12-month certificate, you can pay £114.50 upfront or set up a Direct Debit for 10 monthly payments of £11.45.

Once you pay or set up the Direct Debit, you’ll receive your card via email or post. Show this card at the pharmacy to get your NHS prescription medication at no extra cost.

Certain patients struggling with NHS prescription costs may qualify for the NHS Low Income Scheme, which can fully cover prescription costs. You can apply if you have savings or investments under £16,000 (£23,250 if in a care home). Your application will be assessed based on your income, outgoings, savings, and investments. If successful, you’ll receive an HC2 certificate for free prescriptions.
